One of the things that makes the University of Washington (UW) unique is our system of shared governance. We believe in the importance of student and faculty involvement in making personnel decisions, selecting administrators, preparing the budget, and helping set university-wide policy.

About the council:
The Faculty Council on Women in Academia (FCWA) is one of the UW's eleven (11) councils that study and make recommendations to the UW's Faculty Senate, Senate Executive Committee, UW president, and regents on all matters of policy relating to the interests of women.

Your responsibilities:
- Serve as the ASUW's representative to FCWA
- Attend all FCWA meetings during your appointed academic session
- Work with the ASUW director of university affairs and members of the ASUW Student Senate to ensure that appropriate actions are pursed towards fulfilling resolutions of student opinion relating to women in academia.
