Loring Park Compost Drop-off - Sign Up
The Community Organics Work Group and Minneapolis College have partnered on a pilot program to offer free organics recycling for renters, students, and staff. The organics recycling bins are the property of the city and are at the Willow Street cul-de-sac. In this pilot phase, locks are used on the drop-off to help manage the amount and quality of organic materials dropped off. The lock code will appear on your screen immediately after you submit this form. Please save the code for your future reference.

The purpose of this program is to make it much easier for residents, students, and staff to recycle their food scraps and other compostable waste. For the average Minnesotan, 40% of our waste does not need to be burned or buried (what happens to our trash after its picked up). That 40% – food scraps and other compostables – could become a healthy component of our soil, if only we diverted it to be composted and not trashed. That's what these bins are for. Furthermore, we believe a community approach is the right one. This program is maintained by neighbors. To learn more, visit www.projectgreenleaf.org.

Have you ever regularly recycled your food scraps and other organic waste before? *
Don't worry, this isn't a test. We are just curious about who is using the site!

I pledge to use the Loring Park organics recycling bins responsibly, which includes: 1. Placing only compostable items in the bins as indicated by the signage on/near the bins and on the City's website (http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/solid-waste/organics/acceptable-organics). 2. Respecting the lock process and remembering to close the lock when finished. 3. Keeping the lock code confidential. 4. Leaving no waste, organic or otherwise, on the ground around the bins even when the bins are full. I recognize that if the bins are full, I am to wait until after the bins have been emptied to deposit my material or to drop the material off in a normal garbage bin. *
