The American Society for Engineering Education (asee.org) is a non-profit member organization, and most of our members are in higher education, teaching, and researching engineering and engineering education topics. Yet, ASEE is keenly interested in fostering excellence in Pre-K to Grade 12 engineering education and works through the Commission on P12 Engineering Education (CP12) to support member work in this area and connect with P12 educators nationwide. In that spirit, every year that ASEE holds an annual conference for its members, the Commission on P12 Engineering Education also holds one for local PreK to 12 teachers, informal educators, district leaders, and other partners in the host city.
The 2024 ASEE CP12 Teacher Conference will be held at Portland State University’s Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (1930 SW 4th Ave, Portland, OR 97201) on June 22, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Lunch will be provided.
ASEE members from any Division are invited to use this form to submit session proposals that relate to the theme of “Increasing and Diversifying Access to STEM.” Sample ideas from Portland Metro STEM Partnership include: “Problems Worth Solving,” or “STEM & STEAM for a Purpose.” We are seeking proposals for sessions with lower-barrier-to-entry activities and real hands-on classroom materials. The workshop audience will be actual teachers, not faculty from Maseeh. Sessions should be 90 minutes long. For your reference, here is the 2023 workshop list.
We are also seeking sponsors and keynote speakers. Please use the tick boxes at the bottom of the form if you have suggestions for those.
Session proposals are due December 31, 2023. Proposal decisions will be communicated to you by January 15, 2024, along with a copy of the teacher registration form for you to approve. Please email katey@edukatey.com if you have any questions. Thank you!
