IN-STORE PRIVATE EVENT REQUESTS
We prefer to host private events outside the shop's regular business hours. Our store is a retail business, and our focus is welcoming shoppers to our historic town while taking care of our regular customers’ needs. We do offer limited time slots available during business hours.
Talking Animals Books offers private event rentals for the entire store or the upstairs lounge.
After Hours Event Rental (Full Store Rental) [Mon–Sat. 8:00 AM–10:00 AM, Sun. 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, or after 5:00 PM]. $250/hour, minimum 2-hour rental + $100/additional hour
Business Hours Event Rental (Full Store) [Mon–Thurs. After 5:00 PM], $250/hour, minimum 2-hour rental + $100/additional hour.
Business Hours: Upstairs ONLY Event Rental [Considered upon request.] Mon.-Sat. 10:00 AM to 8:00 pm, Sunday 12:00–5:00 PM $100/hour.
(your reservation includes fifteen additional minutes for your setup and breakdown)
* Purchases made during your private event will receive a 15% discount.
Food & Beverage
Talking Animals Books does not offer event catering. However, you can bring in any food or beverages you’d like to serve your guests. You are not permitted to sell any food or beverages in the store.
Event setup/decor
You can rearrange furniture in the shop for your event, and additional tables can be brought in. You are required to reset the shop furnishings as part of your event breakdown, and you are expected to do no damage to the shop in the movement of items. You can bring in any banners/bunting/posters for your event to display, but they must be displayed so that they do not damage walls or fixtures.
Upstairs Parties (Regular operating hours)
Our upstairs lounge is available to rent for private parties. It is equipped with toys for children and furniture/tables for adults. Furniture may be moved or brought in. Restrooms and a changing table are located downstairs in the store.
Talking Animals will provide story time and crafts for birthday parties, which is included in your rental fee.
The maximum number of children for a birthday party ranges from 7-10 partygoers, depending on age (this does not include parents or guardians).
Adult parties are capped at 15-20 guests.
The maximum capacity for persons upstairs is 20, but please consider that the space is small with low ceilings and may not comfortably accommodate 20 adults.
