Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to support our club. We are asking for your help to remain at our home on the shoreline along Hammer Point at Iroquois Point in ʻEwa Beach.
Kamaha’o Canoe Club (KCC) is a two decade old nonprofit. The word Kamaha’o means "astounding," and we hold true to that name by standing out. Our mission is to strengthen families through community work and Hawaiian culture. Since 2006, we have served ʻEwa Beach and the communities around us. We teach those who come to us the teachings of the wa'a and how to love the land and each other.
Kamaha’o Canoe Club (KCC) was founded in 2006 and has been one of the very few canoe clubs found in ʻEwa Beach. We have many amazing memories, but it does come with some challenges. In August of 2023, when there was the high winds and storms linked to the devastating Maui Wildfires, one of our wa'as (canoes) was crushed from a uprooted tree. We worked with Kapilina Beach Homes to safely clear the tree and anything else that posed as a risk to our community, which included hauling thousands of pounds of trash out of the Lagoons.
For years, we had a good and collaborative relationship with Kapilina Beach Homes. In February 2025, our club received an unexpected letter of separation. Our club submitted paperwork to confirm our compliance with their vendor requirements and address liability concerns. However, in May of 2026 we received a formal letter ordering the club to completely vacate from the beach property by August of 2026. We have since met with Kapilina Beach Homes, and we are grateful that they granted our request for an extension, giving us until November 30, 2026 to move.
Our hope is simple: to find a path that lets us remain at or near the shoreline our ʻohana has always known, where the calm, accessible waters are uniquely suited to paddlers of every age. We are not here to point fingers. We are here to keep a multi-generational Hawaiian cultural practice alive on these shores.
We will continue to serve our community. All we ask is your kōkua and kuleana. There are few other nearby beaches for our keiki and kūpuna to paddle at safely, and Hammer Point is all we have. The spirit of Kamahaʻo cannot be evicted. We thank you for standing with us for twenty years, and we humbly ask for your help in protecting the next twenty.
