Background

Filipinos for Palestine is a network of U.S. based Filipinos in solidarity for a free Palestine. Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist and US-backed entity of Israel has been waging a genocide on Gaza as a form of collective punishment to Palestinian resistance. This genocidal war has resulted in over 28,000 Palestinian killings with more than 10,000 deaths being children. All of Gaza has been destroyed yet Israel continues to wreak havoc on Palestinians in not only the Gaza Strip, but also the West Bank and historic Palestine. Now, the last supposed refuge for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip — Rafah — is being mercilessly bombed and threatened with ground invasion by Israel.

As people who have been historically colonized and continue to bear the brunt of imperialism in our homeland, we Filipinos recognize that the occupation of Palestine by Israel must end. Palestine has long suffered under the brunt of Israeli occupation, from its first settlements prior to 1948, and especially after May 15, 1948 when the state of Israel was violently formed. This day is known as Nakba, or "catastrophe," for it marks the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their native land and the murder of over 15,000 Palestinians. 

Today's genocide has already well surpassed the number of killings during the Nakba. As Filipinos for Palestine, we must recognize the complicity of our governments. The United States state is the largest funder of Israel's genocide as it continues to send and approve billions in US taxpayer dollars to Israel in the form of military aid and weapons. The Philippines was the third largest weapons buyer from Israel from 2018-2022, and regularly hosts officials from the Israeli occupation forces for military and police trainings of the fascist armed forces of the Philippine. Israeli weapons and tactics wreak havoc on Filipino peasants, union organizers, students, and more.  

The people of the world are coming together to call for an end to this ongoing Nakba and in support of a liberated Palestine. As Filipinos for Palestine, we lend our voices to this growing global chorus: From the River to the Sea, Palestine Must be Free! From Palestine to the Philippines, Stop the US War Machine! Money for Jobs and Education! Not for War and Occupation!

The Filipinos for Palestine Network

Since October 2023, we have hosted national and local teach-ins together with Palestinian allies to link our people's struggles and call more to action; mobilized contingents in mass protests around the country, including the National March on Washington for Palestine; raised funds for our people's struggles and for Palestinian-Filipino refugees; and more. 

As Filipinos for Palestine, we must contribute more to the growing movement for a free Palestine. We stand in firm unity to support:

1. The call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire

2. An end to the military siege and blockade of Gaza and the West Bank

3 An end of US aid and intervention that funds war on the people in Palestine, the Philippines, and across the world

4. The right of the Palestinian people for self-determination and their democratic rights — including the right to their land and the right to return — and the right of all oppressed people to liberation
