At Bridging The Gap at UCI we affirm a culture of resource sharing with the goal of empowering socioeconomically disadvantaged students pursuing careers in the health and biomedical sciences through mentorship, advocacy, and community service opportunities. With the academic year coming to a close, we are looking to recruit committee members for the following year!
Committees are highly collaborative groups that require a large time commitment during the academic year and summer. We are looking for individuals willing to put in the work to help others and better themselves in the process. After filling out this form, you may be contacted and offered an interview. If you are interested in joining us as a committee member, please keep the following commitments in mind:
- 30min-1hr per week committee meetings
- 1hr, biweekly general meetings
- 1hr weekly board meetings (chair positions only)
- Short summer meetings
- Committee chairs are appointed after a short probationary period
- Mentorship (1-4 positions): the mentorship committee is our most vital committee. It works on programs related to mentorship for high school students, and ensures the proper training of college mentors.
- Resources (1-3 positions): the resources committee will be responsible for compiling resources and making workshops that ensure the success of students in college/high school. This can include documents with scholarships/community service opportunities, proposal/email writing workshops, info sessions for external programs/funding, academic success tools, etc.
- Development (chair position only): the development chair organizes fundraisers.
- Outreach & Service (1-3 positions): the outreach and service committee is dedicated to recruitment and retention of general members and mentors, and organization of volunteer events.
