IRTC25 Collection of Global Assessments and Strategies for Critical and Strategic Raw Materials

Dear colleagues,

In order to complement the upcoming IRTC25 Virtual Round Table (October 2025), we are gathering insights on the methodologies and approaches currently used or under development in criticality studies.

Criticality assessments play a central role in understanding and managing supply risks, resource dependencies, and the resilience of socio-technical systems. Over the past years, a variety of concepts, models, and frameworks have emerged. With this survey, we aim to collect and document the practices currently applied in research and policy contexts.

The results will feed into the virtual contribution board at the Round Table and will be shared with participants to support exchange, collaboration, and methodological reflection. We might also include the study collection in a White Paper following the Round Table.

We warmly invite you to contribute by sharing information on the methods you apply or are developing in your work.

Thank you very much for your participation!
