June: Music in Gardens
GreenThumb is partnering with Make Music New York who host a unique festival of 1,000+ free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City on Sunday, June 21st the first day of summer. We want to encourage New Yorkers to interact with and/or learn about their local gardens and GreenThumb’s network. The celebration will promote musicians of all styles, all ages, and skill levels to spread music to their communities. Music in the gardens can be the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors, church, businesses, schools, and other organizations!

Musicians will coordinate with you to find the best time to perform that works for you both. Most musicians will play percussion music, but if a musician wants amplified sound then a sound permit is require from your local police precinct. Download the sound permit application here: www.nycgovparks.org/sub_permits_and_applications/images_and_pdfs/NYPD_Sound_permit_application.pdf. We have the right to deny amplified sound. There is no guarantee that we will be able to get a musician to play at a designated garden.

This celebration is for everyone to enjoy free of charge (Please be advise that under no circumstances should you charge admission fee or require a donation). GreenThumb will promote your event on our social media pages (Facebook: @GreenThumbNYC / Instagram and Twitter: @greenthumbgrows). The deadline to sign up is April 17, 2020. You will be notified by email starting May 8, 2020 if your garden was chosen by the musician.

You can also host events on other dates that work best for you in the month of June.
