Join TreePeople and The Broad on
Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Coldwater Canyon Park for the launch of
The Plants of Tovaangar, a new interactive audio tour and self-guided experience celebrating the Tongva names of native plants. The morning kicks off at
9:00AM with a community planting of native
shrubs, trees, and flowers along our scenic Oak Mesa trail, followed by an
11:30AM panel discussion featuring Tongva elder and language researcher Virginia Carmelo and special guests.
In partnership with The Broad and Arts in California Parks, this event unveils new interpretive signage and audio guides
featuring the Tongva names of each native plant species. We're inviting Angelenos to connect with the stories, language, and plants of the land.
After the panel discussion, TreePeople will take attendees on a walking tour of the new native plant trail, followed by a reception with light refreshments.
**PLEASE NOTE** Our Group Planting is at capacity. Any further sign ups will go to the waitlist, we hope to accommodate everyone.
