We are taking applications for the East Central High School P-TECH pathway. The program is available to incoming 9th graders who seek to pursue a career in the health or science fields. If the program reaches max capacity, your child will be placed on a waitlist. In the event space becomes available, we would be able to offer your child a position in the P-TECH Program.

Program Overview

The purpose of the Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) program is to provide a smooth transitional experience for students from high school to postsecondary education and employment. The P-TECH program shall:  Serve students who are at-risk of dropping out  Provide open enrollment and no cost to students  Provide opportunity to earn postsecondary credential and/or industry-based certification alignment to regional workforce needs  Provide Work-Based Learning at every grade level  Provide up to 6 years to earn High School Diploma and a certification and/or postsecondary degree. The P-TECH program at East Central High School will be a concentration in Health and Science pathways in technology. Students will be enroll at grade 9, and continue in a cohort their sequential years. Students will be provided the opportunity to earn 60 hours toward a bachelor's degree.

Transportation will be provided to all students who reside in the East Central Independent School District.

Selection and Notification Process

Applications are available until the cohort limit is reached.

Applications submitted after this date will be accepted and a decision will be made based on the availability of space and student’s campus of origin. Once all slots are filled through a lottery system, additional applications will be placed on a waiting list. Incoming 9th grade students who reside in the ECISD school district for the 2026-2027 year are eligible to apply.

STEP 1: Completed applications will be screened to ensure minimum expectations are met.
STEP 2: A public lottery will be conducted and students will be selected.
STEP 3: Selected students are required to attend student/parent meetings to discuss student expectations,
responsibilities, and commitments as an East Central P-TECH student.

Student Commitment and Parent Support

Students must exhibit an interest in the East Central P-TECH program and must demonstrate a willingness to commit to the self-discipline required by a rigorous academic program. Parent/guardian participation in the East Central P-TECH program is critical for the success of your student. More information will be provided after the lottery selection.
