The Michigan Aquaponics Academy is comprised of students from a variety of subject areas, including but not limited to business, engineering, natural sciences, economics. We welcome all students interested in sustainability and social change!

We eagerly anticipate your application and invite you to be a part of our groundbreaking journey towards fostering a more sustainable world!

Technical and Engineering Team:

1.Designs and constructs the physical structure of the aquaponics system, including fish tanks, plant growing areas, and the water circulation system.

2.Researches and selects appropriate technology equipment like water pumps, filters, and lighting systems.

3.Monitors system operation, conducts regular checks and maintenance to ensure stability and efficiency.

Ecology and Biology Team:

1.Chooses suitable creature and plant species to ensure mutual benefits within the aquaponics system.

2.Monitors water quality and plant health, adjusts breeding and planting conditions to optimize growth.

3.Researches and implements sustainable creature breeding and plant cultivation methods to minimize environmental impact.

Business Development Team:

1. Marketing and Market Analysis: Analyze market demand, develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance project visibility.

2. Funding Management and Partnership Development: Secure funding, oversee budget management, and forge partnerships with entities like co-op houses and community farms to facilitate collaborative opportunities.

3. Financial Planning and Fundraising: Tasked with creating fundraising strategies, applying for grants and sponsorships, and maintaining project budgets to ensure financial sustainability.

4. Educational Purpose: Facilitate educational initiatives through project activities to raise public awareness of sustainable agriculture and aquaponics systems and nurture the next generation of environmental advocates.

We will be working at the Robin Hill Farm, approximately a 30-minute drive from central campus. Transportation will be organized through carpooling. Mileage reimbursement and free parking will be provided.
