Save a Life Wisconsin: Narcan Access for Schools

According to Department of Health Services, 640 youth died between 2016 and 2023 of accidental opioid overdoses. In the US, 22 high school kids die of an overdose each week.

70% of non-opioid counterfeit drugs are laced with fentanyl. Drugs like THC vaping oils, marijuana, stimulants, depressants, Ecstasy, etc.

Over 20% of high school kids vape and are unaware that the vape substance is sometimes laced with fentanyl.

According to Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services data, opioid overdoses that occur on school campuses are INCREASING despite the fact that overall, they are decreasing in the state.

Narcan is a low-cost ($40/two doses) lifesaving intervention which only requires simple training to administer, just like CPR. Having Naloxone (Narcan) readily accessible in all schools across Wisconsin can significantly reduce the risk of death and gives our loved ones the best chance of survival in the event of an opioid overdose.

EMS data indicates that there has been a rise in overdoses on Wisconsin school campuses despite an overall decline in the State. Please use this petition to indicate whether you support increasing community access to Naloxone and making it available in all public and private schools. Please join with us in educating your legislators on the importance of expanding access to naloxone at all public and private schools in Wisconsin by signing below.

Thank you for your consideration, and for potentially saving a chid's life from an accidental overdose at school!

Sincerely,

The George IV Recovery Foundation
