Application for Volunteer Research Experience with the Quave Research Group
Thank you for your interest in joining the Quave Research Group! Our research focus is on the investigation of natural products derived from medicinal plants and their potential application as new drugs for the treatment of infectious disease. All volunteers begin their research experience in the phytochemistry lab and are tasked with assisting the lab manager with daily lab tasks such as cleaning glassware, cataloging plant samples and extracts, processing plants, and creating crude extracts. As they gain experience, volunteers are trained on additional instrumentation in the lab.

Volunteers are required to: 1) dedicate 12-15 hours per week in the lab during the academic year - divided into 3 hr. blocks minimum; 2) maintain an organized lab notebook; 3) stay current in lab safety training; and 4) participate in regular group lab meetings (where they may be asked to present on lab research or scientific literature).

In order to be considered for a position in the lab as a volunteer, please complete this application and email Ms. Jocelyn Stephens to let her know you have submitted an application (jocelyn.stephens@emory.edu). You will be contacted by her pending available space. Note that additional opportunities are reserved for students that have completed 1 semester of volunteering pending performance. This includes research for credit opportunities, honors thesis supervision and more.
