Queen Theatre Survey
My name is Elizabeth Garrison and I have been working with members of Friends of the Queen Theatre to begin the process of restoring and eventually opening The Queen Theatre to provide a much needed community theatre. I have presented the owner with a basic work plan consisting of four phases. The goals presented include restoring the facade and sign, renovating the interior, establishing fundraising and grants for restoration, hosting after school classes for youth, installing professional lighting and a sound system, purchasing chairs for seating and a stage curtain. The final phase will include the establishment a fully operational theatre featuring local and national plays, musicals, live musical events, and the showing of classical movies. The theatre sustainability plan includes constant fundraising, grant submissions along with renting the facility to local schools, dance studios for recitals, churches for Sunday service, and providing a space to The Hawaii Symphony. Data has shown that a local theatre boosts local business revenue, increases test scores for youth by providing classes focused on the arts, elevates the community's sense of safety, provides jobs, and positively impacts the community members post Covid-19. This survey intends to provide data from the community and stakeholder's input to then be presented to the owners and funders the want and need of the restoration of The Queen Theatre. Thank you for your input.
