Summer Reading Registration 2020
This year's summer reading program will run from June 1 - August 5. The majority of this year's summer reading program will be virtual. However, at this time, we plan to award reading prizes and provide some activities, crafts, and paper reading logs as a curbside pickup option. EVERYONE who signs up should plan to come pick up a physical summer reading packet at the library in the SOUTH PARKING LOT right off of National Ave. between the hours of 3 - 4 pm on May 26 - 27 or 10 - 11 am on May 28 - 29. If those hours will not work for you (you may have someone else pick up packets for you), or in the case of inclement weather, call the library or email Miss Val (see below) to set up an appointment for pickup. If you plan to pick up for a daycare or other large group, please call or email to schedule an appointment and designate the number and ages of the children when you call, as we will provide special packets to these groups. CURBSIDE BOOK PICKUP is already offered, so if you'd like to add packet pickup to your curbside pickup, just let us know ages and quantities when you schedule (for curbside pickups starting May 26).

PLEASE fill out one of these forms for EACH child. Storytelling videos will be offered on Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube, and craft demonstration videos will be offered on YouTube and Facebook, with guest readers and demonstrators in addition to Miss Val. Our performers will provide pre-recorded performances that we will then share with our patrons. The calendar on our website or our Facebook events page will have listings for all live summer reading events. We hope to offer in-person activity & prize packet pickups at a minimum of every other week.
Please contact us at (620) 223-2882 or email Miss Val at with any further questions.
Thanks to the KS State Library, we are offering free online tracking of reading goals, program attendance, and challenges through Reader Zone (mobile app or desktop access). Each week, the progress you record will affect what prizes you receive. Would you like to try out Reader Zone? If you choose yes, Miss Val will send you the link you need for your child's age group and information on how to get started. If you select no, we will plan to give you a paper log sheet, or you will need to report reading progress via email to Reading reported via paper or email may not always receive prizes in a timely manner, due to the extra time it takes to process the information and its likelihood of getting lost. As we have in past years, we will offer reading and participation challenges which can also earn prizes. That information will be in the packets. *
