Abstract of the talk:
"In current times, science seems to be a very objective, free-from bias area of work, with systems in place that uphold rationality and logic above all else. However, sometimes outsiders and scientists too, forget that science, like all other institutions, is made up of people, and people carry biases and opinions that are culturally learned, into all spheres, including science. In this lecture, the speaker will talk about one such prejudice that the science community has battled for a long time, and it is a battle that continues: the belief that men are better at doing science and women are not suited to it. Using the examples of some women scientists from different fields, who you may not have heard of, we will explore the difficulties these women faced as scientists and how they overcame them."
