2025-2026 Quill and Scroll New Charter Application
About Charter Membership:

To be eligible for a Quill and Scroll Charter, your high school must publish a broadcast, magazine, newspaper, online news or yearbook. Students may also be eligible if they are under the supervision of a local publication, radio or television station. Upon approval, you will receive your charter packet. Charter fee must accompany application.

Charter includes an 8 1/2 Charter Certificate, Principal's Guide to Scholastic Journalism, Chapter Manual and one student membership. Include a "Banner Package" with all standard benefits as well as an added wall banner for events and initiations for $65 more. This is a lifetime charter, no annual dues are assessed. 

About Membership:

Quill and Scroll charters are granted to schools. All journalism programs and media in each school are included. Only charter member schools may recommend students for membership. Recommendation forms are available on our website in both paper and online forms. 

Students recommended for membership must meet the following requirements: 

1. They must be of freshman, sophomore, junior or senior classification.
2. They must have the equivalent of a B grade point average or be in the upper third of their class in general scholastic standing, either for the year of their election or for the cumulative total of all of their high school work. 
3. They must have done superior work in some phase of journalism or school media work, such as writing, editing, business management or production.
4. They must be recommended by the supervisor, adviser or by the committee governing media.
