VACE 2020 Conference - Call for Programs

Please use the form below to complete and submit your conference program proposal no later than JANUARY 7th, 2020. Program proposals will be reviewed and decisions will be made by JANUARY 21st, 2020.

The theme for this year’s VACE Conference at the Harrisonburg, VA Hotel Madison is:
"BUILD THE VISION"

The board is working on creating a strategic plan for the organization and we want you to help BUILD THE VISION with us.

Program proposals for the annual conference at the Hotel Madison will be evaluated and selected with this theme in mind. The goal is to offer conference attendees a comprehensive variety of topical, current, innovative, and relevant sessions from which to choose. The focus of these sessions should encompass one (or more) of the three mains areas below:

EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT
Example topics include:
Non-traditional students: counseling, employers hiring
Current issues employers are facing and how colleges can meet needs
Data collection

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Example topics include:
Leadership training
Advancing within one's profession
Utilizing LinkedIn: helping students develop profiles and fully utilize the tools

BEST PRACTICES FOR DEVELOPING SOFT SKILLS
Example topics include:
Interviewing techniques: evaluating, case interviews, etc.
Building relationships with faculty

NEW THIS YEAR: BEST PRACTICES ROUNDTABLES!

Best practices for engaging students in events and with social media
Marketing to Employers
Externships/Internships
Resumes that work
Streamlining Recruitment
Salary Negotiation
Personal Professional Development

PROGRAM FORMAT:
Program sessions can be either a 50-minute Breakout session OR a facilitated Best Practices Exchange/Roundtable discussion.

Facilitators of Roundtables will be asked to share examples of their best practice and then engage participating members in a discussion of their own best practices. Please see above for sample topics.

Be sure to include all requested program information clearly.

Submitted programs should be engaging to either college career professionals, employers, or both, with clearly defined benefits for attendees.
