Questionnaire for “Loopers: Aesthetics, Technologies, and Creative Practitioners”
The following is a required WEB-BASED SURVEY CONSENT FORM for research at the University of Central Missouri.
Identification of Researchers: This research is being performed by principal investigator Jeff Kaiser (with the University of Central Missouri).
Purpose of the Study: These questions will focus on:
1) The type of electronic musical instruments and technology used to create music involving live looping
2) How the musician/technologists interact with the technology
3) The musician/technologists conceptions of music and sound, and;
4) How such conceptions affect the development and use of the technology.
Request for Participation: I am inviting your participation in research for this study documenting and exploring the current thought and practice of building and using live loopers. The focus will be on practitioners and developers of diverse musical practices—from popular to experimental music—that use and develop electronic technology with the purpose of live looping. You will be one of approximately 10-50 technologists/musicians completing the survey. It is up to you whether you would like to participate. If you decide not to participate, you will not be penalized in any way. You can also decide to stop at any time without penalty. All questions are optional.
