Researchers from the University of Minnesota will discuss perennial crop ecosystem service benefits, commercialization efforts, and ongoing research at Kimber Contours Farm. Attendees will have a chance to tour the farm and hear from Kurt Kimber, owner of Kimber Contours, about his efforts to weave equity and inclusion into the future of the farm. The field day is co-sponsored by the UMN Forever Green Initiative. A vegetarian lunch will be provided.

Kimber Contours is a diverse organic farm located about 30 minutes south of the Twin Cities. Kurt Kimber, Chris Kimber, and Carol Lowry grow sweet corn, food-grade soybeans, wheat and other small grains, peas, and Kernza© perennial grain. They recently added chestnut trees and hybrid hazelnuts. The system incorporates reduced tillage, cover crops, prairie strips, and intercropping. Kimber Contours received the 2020 Dakota County Outstanding Conservationist award in recognition of their conservation practices.
