PETITION IN OPPOSITION TO REZONE

RE: Opposition to Proposed Rezone of Assessor’s Parcel Nos. 339-04-069 through -100 and 339-15-175 through -178

We, the undersigned residents, taxpayers, and voters of Mohave County, Arizona, formally oppose the REZONE of Assessor’s Parcel No. 339-04-069 through -100 and 339-15-175 through -178.

The applicant, Travin Pennington (representing High Desert Land Holdings LLC and Resurrected Prop.), is requesting to change the zoning of this land north of Agua Fria Drive and east of Estrella Road from an A-R/36A (Agricultural Residential / Thirty-Six Acre minimum lot size) zone to R-1, C-2, R-O/A, and N-P zones. This change would introduce a high-density residential subdivision and commercial retail into the heart of our community.

We urge the Commission and the Board of Supervisors to DENY this request to protect Golden Valley for the following reasons:

Depletion of the Sacramento Basin: Golden Valley residents rely heavily on the Sacramento Basin for our water security. Transitioning from 36-acre minimum lots to a highly condensed residential and commercial footprint presents an immediate, severe, and unsustainable drain on our local aquifer.
Destruction of Golden Valley's Rural Identity: The existing A-R/36A zoning protects the low-density, agricultural, and independent lifestyle that defines Golden Valley. Introducing high-density subdivisions and C-2 commercial retail fundamentally destroys the character of the community we have chosen to build and live in.
Local Traffic and Infrastructure Overload: The rural roads in Golden Valley, specifically Agua Fria Drive, Estrella Road, and the surrounding network, are completely inadequate for the exponential increase in daily vehicle trips generated by dense subdivisions and retail spaces. This will create hazardous conditions and degrade our local infrastructure.

As residents of Mohave County, we are fiercely protective of our water, our roads, and our rural way of life. We respectfully request that the current A-R/36A zoning be strictly maintained and that you vote NO on this proposed rezone.
