The Urban Ag Working Group administers the Urban Growers Professional Development Scholarship Fund. This fund exists to support urban gardeners and farmers in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and to help them access professional development opportunities. Funds may be used for conferences, workshop registrations, trainings, and/or transportation costs (such as bus tickets or toll reimbursement) to these professional development opportunities. *

1) IF you would like to participate in a professional development opportunity, but need to know if you’ll be eligible for reimbursement or need to be reimbursed prior:

• Applications must be received by the 1st of the month to provide time for review and processing

• Allow 7 days for a response (approved/not approved)

• Submit receipts as soon as possible

• Funds (if awarded) are distributed within 14 days of receipt submission

2) IF you have already paid for and attended your professional development opportunity, but would like reimbursement:

• Applications must be received, and receipts emailed, by the 1st of the month to provide time for review and processing

• Funds (if awarded) to be distributed within 14 days of approval

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:

• Growers are eligible for a maximum of $500 per year

• Fuel costs are only eligible if they relate to a single discrete event or opportunity

• Funds will be mailed from the East End Food Co-op via US Postal Service to the mailing address provided on the application.

• Scholarship requests can reimburse for an opportunity in advance, or can be submitted after the event.
