The Pastry Project is a free, 12-week baking and pastry training program to help individuals with barriers to opportunity gain job skills and experience for employment in the industry. Students learn baking and pastry methods, and execute recipes for cookies, quick breads, yeasted breads, pies, cakes, choux, confections, mousses and more. Students are also supported in gaining the soft skills needed to succeed in a job, including professional and effective communication in the workplace. The Pastry Project also provides assistance with resume writing and interview prep and will help with job placement and continued mentorship.
Must be between ages 18-25, available on Saturdays for 12 weeks in Pioneer Square (classes begin in November 2019, public transit stipend provided) and be eligible to work in the United States.
