Open science is growing as the mainstream in developed countries and
is promoted by various bodies. However, Open Science still needs to
achieve transparency, reproducibilty, and inclusivity goals; indeed,
the movement needs to catch up in India. This session marks the
beginning of a year long project that aims to come up with a curated
resource (possibly a journal article) and foster a community of
people practicing open science in India.
Scope of the final piece:
1. Current status of open Science practices in India.
2. Bottlenecks and barriers in open Science practices in India.
3. Possible Interventions to Boost open practices in India.
4. Practical guidance/examples for actions to promote open science in India
This includes: Open, transparent, and reproducible research practices, Open source software and tools,
5. List of resources to support open science practices.
Time Needed: The expected time commitment for collaborators will be approximately 4-6 months, with a total time commitment of approximately 30-40 hours
per collaborator (roughly two hours a week). This includes time for conducting literature
reviews, attending virtual meetings, and drafting sections of the
paper.
