Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association (LHENA) will be holding an election for 1 open board seat on July 17th at the association's monthly board meeting. This seat is for a two-year term, ending in April 2021. If you are a resident, property owner, or business owner within the neighborhood, you are eligible to serve on LHENA's 11-seat board. (The neighborhood is bordered by Lyndale Ave., Lake St., and Hennepin Ave.).
ABOUT THE ROLE:Successful board members dedicate appx. 4-10 hours per month to service, actively contribute ideas and effort, and are dedicated to working to improve the Lowry Hill East (aka "the Wedge") neighborhood and this organization. Duties of the board include:
1. carrying out the mission of the association2. attending monthly board meetings held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm3. actively serving on at least one committee4. fulfilling the fiduciary responsibilities standard of serving on a non-profit board5. Engage in fundraising efforts
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:LHENA is seeking a candidate who will assume the role as board treasurer, although it is not a candidacy prerequisite. Roles and responsibilities of the treasurer include:
1. participating in monthly executive committee meeting2. working with finance committee chair to help oversee community funding requests, our loan programs, and investments3. providing board with monthly financial report 4. signing monthly city funding request 5. responsible for financial transactions along with executive director6 creating annual LHENA budget with executive director7. authorizing expenses and submits deposits, as needed
Financial experience is desired, but not required.
HOW TO APPLY:Candidates who are interested in applying must complete a candidate application form. This form may be completed online by July 12th, 2019. Candidate nominations will also be accepted from the floor during the board meeting; candidates who submit in advance will give our board an opportunity to get to know your platform and background in advance of the election. Candidates are not required to attend the board meeting, although it is highly encouraged. NEXT STEPS:After completing this application, LHENA staff will connect with you. A proof of residency or property/business ownership in the neighborhood will be requested. The election to fill this vacant board seat will occur on Wednesday, July 17th, 6:30pm at our office (2744 Lyndale Ave S). Candidates will be given the opportunity to give a two-minute speech. Note: the LHENA board of directors will decide which candidate will fill the vacant board seat by vote.
