"This form is currently closed and will likely reopen on December15th, 2026 at 12pm. Donation FAQ • Will I need to upload photos into this form when it opens? Yes, we will need a photo of you wearing the dress at your wedding to show us that it is truly your dress from your wedding. You will also need a photo of the front and the back of the dress in it's current and unboxed condition so that our team can make sure it is in good enough shape to be used. • Does my wedding dress need to be cleaned before I donate it? If your wedding dress has any odor we ask that you have it cleaned before getting it to us. All dresses must be from smoke-free homes. If your wedding dress is heavily stained, unevenly yellow from age, or otherwise damaged it may not be usable. *It is our commitment to hospitals and bereaved families to provide clean, beautiful and high quality Angel Gowns and handkerchiefs. Thank you for your understanding. • Do you accept other formal gowns? We do not accept any other type of formal gowns or formal wear at this time. We strictly use wedding dresses because of the sentimental value and the meaning behind them. If we are ever in a shortage for wedding dresses we may open up to other types of white formal wear, but for now we are lucky to have more than enough people willing to support our cause with wedding dresses. • What color wedding gowns do you accept? We are able to accept white, cream, or off colored white dresses only so that we can keep the gowns more neutral. We would LOVE to take other colored dresses, but at this time we just don't have a enough of a need for them, and don't have space to store them until they could be utilized. • Is the donation of a wedding dress a charitable donation? Halos of the St. Croix Valley is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations made to us are tax deductible. We cannot value your donation, but we will send you a tax acknowledgement letter via email once we have received your donated wedding dress, if you request one. • How long will it take for my dress to be turned into Angel Gowns or handkerchiefs? We ask that seamstresses complete them within six months of picking them up, but they can stay on our shelf for up to a year before they are picked up depending on seamstress availability. We rely on volunteer seamstresses to create everything. Once we receive the items back from our seamstresses we then quality sort them, photograph them, package them, and place them into our Angel Boxes to be given to families and hospitals across MN and WI. This is a delicate process and is one we take very seriously. Please know that we are working tirelessly to ensure that all wedding dresses are used as quickly as possible. • I would like a keepsake piece of my wedding dress – what do I do? You can cut a piece out of the dress before you donate it. We do ask that you try to take it from the bottom, or the end of a sleeve... something that is easy to work around. • Are you willing to take pictures of the gowns or handkerchiefs that are made from my dress? Yes, we will take a “before” photo of your dress before given out to a seamstress. Once the seamstress has returned the gowns or handkerchief made from your dress, an “after” photo of all items created from your dress will be taken. Both will be put onto a Facebook post thanking you for your donation and the seamstress for creating them. We also do our best to email you a photo when they are completed, but we never want to promise this incase we are extremely busy when it is completed and are unable to. • Why can't I donate a dress on someone else's behalf? We have found that things just get too complicated with people signing up to donate dresses on other people's behalf. For example, a few years ago someone brought in 4 dresses and they were all labeled with the name of the woman that dropped them off. For the next few years as they were finished each one was posted with her name as the dress donor and some of the actual dress donors reached out upset that they were not recognized for donating, that they didn't get donation receipts with their names on them, that they were not emailed photos directly (because we only had her email on file), etc. so it was logistically much more difficult than it needed to be. Because of this, the person filling out this form must be the person that wore the dress at their wedding. If the name/email/phone number do not match up to the dress donor we will automatically not be able to accept the dress."
