Graham Dunning KC is a leading commercial barrister at Essex Court Chambers, specialising in international arbitration, cross border disputes and both private and public international law. He graduated from the University of Cambridge (Emmanuel College) and, after an LLM in the U.S., was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn, where he is now a Bencher. He was appointed Queen’s (now King’s) Counsel in 2001; he regularly appears before the English High Court, in the appellate courts, and in major arbitral tribunals. He is a former Co-Head of Chambers. He also sits frequently as an arbitrator, bringing insight into procedure, evidence, and award drafting. His dual experience offers a comprehensive perspective on arbitration. Mr Dunning serves on the Advisory Board of the the University of Cambridge Alumni Arbitration Law Association (CAMARB), where he promotes engagement between academia and practice and strengthens Cambridge’s global arbitration network.

The session will also highlight the skills, judgment, and professional development required to build a sustained practice, offering practical guidance and bridging the gap between academic study and professional careers.
