The North Rockland CSD Adult Education Department is proud to announce an extensive, 6 session course in preparation for May SAT examination. 


SAT Preparation Math Course 

6 Sessions:  VIRTUAL Meetings- Mondays, beginning 3/4/24 (no class 4/1/24 and 4/22/24)

Cosmetology 101 
Learn how to do your own makeup with confidence every day. Professional makeup artist, practicing for over 30 years… Carrie Newman, make up studio and spa owner of Faces By Carrie, in  Pearl River will be teaching the basic skills that you need to know for your everyday lifestyle makeup application. Whether it be an a natural look or a dramatic look, Carrie will  teach you the ins and outs of makeup and all the tricks of the trade, how to find the right colors for you and how to apply them correctly, so you can do it by yourself at home. Becoming  a pro by the end of the class! Carrie will also teach  you the proper way to take care of your skin and keep your skin from aging!  Carrie philosophy is the on the way for your makeup to look good is to start with your skin looking good so, Carrie will teach you all the basics from  proper skin care to foundation eye makeup both day and evening looks. This will give you the start. You need for youthful skin and learning how to do your own makeup confidently on your own at home! You will get a list of supplies the first night of class.

Understanding Your Digital Camera
This 4-week class is designed to demystify the settings and controls on today's digital cameras, so you can take better pictures. We will discuss the various controls and explain both how they work and how to use them. While every camera is different, there are several settings that are standard. There will be both instruction and demonstrations, with time to try each setting during the class. Bring your DSLR or other camera with adjustable settings, fully charged batteries, memory card and manual to class.

Hands-On Photo Lab 
Whether you’ve taken Photography 101 or Understanding Your Digital Camera and are ready for more, or you
need a refresher course to up your skill set, this class is for you. This 4-week
class will be an interactive, hands-on experience which will allow you to
apply and reinforce your photographic knowledge. There will be
demonstrations and activities during each class. Bring your camera, extra
charged batteries, memory card, and manual to class.

Sewing from A-Z
Join me as I take you through all the skills that will help you begin and finish sewing fun projects. We will learn from A (applique) to Z (zippers) and everything in between. You will learn all about choosing the right fabrics, patterns, tools and many other extras to help you create quick and easy makes.

Use and knowledge of a basic sewing machine is REQUIRED!!!

Come and learn the basics of Latino cooking. Using tasty spices/seasonings, we will be cooking rice dishes, soups and stews along with other Latino favorites. Quilting for the Modern Quilter 
Learn traditional quilt making while creating your own heirloom quilt. You will learn fast, time saving techniques for today's modern quilter. Access to a sewing machine is required. Vinyasa Yoga 
Are you looking to connect your mind and body with a fluid and conscious yoga flow? Come be a part of a 10-week yoga class that helps you move with the flow of your breath. An upbeat 45 min Vinyasa style yoga, where you move from one pose to the next incorporating breathing techniques and finding that balance within your mind and body. Ending the practice with 15 minutes of meditation, incorporated with a guided mediation, singing bowl, and optional warm lavender cloths to soak into the rejuvenating time your mind and body needs to continue towards a restful evening. Each class is different and postures are sequenced in a way to help increase flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, and allow you to tune into your body’s own rhythm. All levels are welcome, however please inform yoga instructor of any recent or past injuries so modifications can be made when needed.

Pilates 
Pilates is a low intensity muscle strengthening workout that focuses heavily on building strong core muscles. The low intensity workout can promote flexibility, mobility and posture. For the class, you will need an eight or nine inch not fully inflated ball, mat, flex band and pilates ring.

Pickleball for Beginners: This course will provide students with the essentials to improve play in the sport of Pickleball. Specific objectives will include: proper paddle grip, foot positioning, serving, volleying, dinking and an introduction to the third shot drop. The primary focus will be active court-play and key drills. Each week will build upon the prior week’s learning and culminate into fun matches played between students.

Pickleball - Intermediate - LIMIT 16 - WAIT LIST 

Pickleball for Intermediate Players (3.0-3.5 Rating): This course is designed for students rated between 3.0 – 3.5 (self rating is ok). Prospective students should know most of the rules of Pickleball and are able to execute a wide variety of shots including: deep serves, some third shot drops, dinking and effective partner play. This course will focus on drills to improve: footwork, third shot drops, third shot drives, cross-court dinking, lobs, overheads, shot selection and game strategy. Each week will build upon the prior week’s learning and culminate into competitive matches played between students.

Materials required - 8 Franklin X-40 Pickleball Balls

Open Pickleball Play  LIMIT 16 - WAIT LIST

Open Pickleball Play: 8 Weeks/ 8 Sessions: Open Pickleball Play: The best way to improve is to play!  Players will be divided by level.  Games will be to 7 so that more time is spent on the court, less time watching.  Play with a variety of partners as you practice your skills in a game setting.  A friendly, non-competitive environment in which you can learn strategy and  meet other pickleball players.  Come see what everyone is talking about.

Introduction to the guitar (Adults): Music has often been called the universal language that we can all relate to and guitar is an excellent way to experience this.
