2019 Block Party: Downtown Bucket List
WHERE and WHEN: On Court Square and throughout downtown; Saturday, August 24; 4:30-6:30pm

WHAT: For the 9th year in a row, Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance is partnering with James Madison University to host Block Party in the ‘Burg—an annual event that introduces more than 5,000 incoming freshmen to all that our downtown community has to offer. Students will walk from campus, led by JMU President Alger, Mayor Reed and other City Council representatives, and JMU's marching band--the Marching Royal Dukes! Activities will take place on Court Square and throughout downtown.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? This year, we're doing things a little differently. Instead of participating in a single-day scavenger hunt, students will have a full semester to check out unique-to-your business events, activities, signature menu items, gift-able retail collections--or whatever is "the thing that can't be missed" at your shop or restaurant. **Giveaways or coupons for your bucket list items are not required, but feel free to hand them out if you think it's beneficial.

For example, if we wrote a bucket list item for HDR, it would be something like, "Purchase tickets to the Cookie Tour during downtown's holiday festival, Winter Wonderfest, on December 7th!"

It's FREE to participate and a great opportunity to introduce your business to new JMU students--and by proxy, their visiting families and friends.
