Policies and Procedures
1. Payment will be made before classes begin.

2. The facilitators (Kalman Warhaft) reserves the right to decline or cancel enrolment in any programs or courses, to cancel classes / programs at any time, to not allow entry into any class, and to change the teacher of tuition at any time.

3. I acknowledge that dance is an active physical activity (sport) in which there is an inherent risk of injury. While a great care is taken to provide a safe dance environment and classes. I/my child participate(s) in dance lessons at my/their own risk. I agree to take full responsibility for my/my child’s injuries and will not hold the teacher nor Melbourne Institute of Dance liable for any injury or any consequence of any injury. If participating in an online class I/my child is responsible for setting up a safe space.

4. Online Zoom classes: whilst all due care will be given; as each location not being set up by MIoD any injury or accidents incurred will not be the responsibility of MIoD. By agreeing to join these classes you agree not to hold MIoD liable of any injury or accidents that may occur.

5. Melbourne Institute of Dance uses current technology such as the taking of video and photos as an educational aid in classes to assist students and teachers.
Melbourne Institute of Dance also seeks permission to allow the publication of your (adult students in the adult programme), or your child/children’s (students in the children’s programme) image for the purposes of advertising and promotion.
- I therefore, give permission and grant the right for Melbourne Institute of Dance to publish my (or my child/children’s) image on or in social media, brochures, emails, concert DVDs, website, posters, or in local school newsletters and local newspapers.
- I give permission for my or child/children’s image to be used without prior notification, remuneration or compensation.
To ensure cyber safety, photographs and videos will be displayed (posted/uploaded) unnamed unless prior consent has been gained.
I understand and agree that if I do not wish to consent to my or my child/children’s image to appear in any or all publications as outlined above, or if I wish to withdraw this authorisation and consent, it is my responsibility to notify Melbourne Institute of Dance.*
*If you do not consent to you or your child/children being filmed or photographed, you or your child/children will be asked to stand to the side in class to avoid being filmed or photographed. Participation in public performances will also be limited due to filming and photographic constraints.

6. You consent to receive communications from us electronically. We will communicate with you by e-mail primarily or phone (in an emergency, less than 24 hours notice). You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to you via email satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

7. Privacy Statement - Melbourne Institute of Dance values student privacy. Personal details supplied for the purposes of enrolment are kept secure and not provided to any other agency or entity unless required by law. The information may be used by Melbourne Institute of Dance to contact parents or next of kin and/or students about matters relating to enrolment, exams, performances, or student wellbeing. All photographs and videos of students remain the property of the Melbourne Institute of Dance and will not be sold, traded or given to any third party without the permission of the student or the parent of a student under the age of 18. Please also see our photographs policy (above in section 4).

8. Statement of Commitment to Child Safety - Melbourne Institute of Dance is committed to safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Melbourne Institute of Dance has zero tolerance for child abuse.
Melbourne Institute of Dance is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Particular attention will be paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as the safety of children with a disability.
Every person involved in Melbourne Institute of Dance has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.

9. If you wish to raise a concern or any issue please put it in a written email to melbourneinstituteofdance@gmail.com with the subject "Concern" and it will be handled as soon as possible with due care.
