The Edison Ford Robotics Program established the Assembly Required FIRST LEGO League Challenge team in 2017. The program added the Batteries Included FIRST LEGO League Challenge team in 2022, and expanded to add both a FIRST LEGO League Explore team for younger students and a FIRST Tech Challenge team for older students in 2023.
FIRST LEGO League Explore teams of up to six students ages 6-10, design and build displays that incorporate their innovative solutions to a real-world problem based on the season's theme, plus use basic block coding to program a component of their model.
FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams of up to ten students ages 9-14, compete on a field attempting to accomplish as many robotic tasks as possible within two minutes and thirty seconds. Teams are also judged in their technical knowledge, their work on an innovation project based on the season's theme, and their core values.
FIRST Tech Challenge teams of up to fifteen students ages 13-18, design, build, and program robots to compete in a series of alliance matches, strategizing to score as many points as possible, accomplishing a range of tasks in an autonomous period and a driver-controlled period.
Please complete the form below to add a student to the waitlist to be invited to a trial practice at the start of the next season, which typically kicks off in August.
