Project Goals

In 2026, the Living Wage Coalition of Transylvania County (an affiliate of Just Economics of WNC) received a project grant to create a short film about the 'State' of work in Transylvania County, and the modes of empowerment that workers are building locally.

Educate Transylvanians about the challenges that local workers have around cost of living and conditions of work.
Elevate the voices of workers and portray the dignity, sacrifice, and benefits to the community that they bring.
Document and demonstrate the unique challenges that workers in different industries have to gaining power.
Show what mobilization of workers looks like through union campaigns, demonstrations, and other solidarity and resilience techniques.

Consent & Agreements

If you would like to consent to participate as a subject in the film, please read and review the following bullet points and agreements, which you can sign on to below.

This film is intended as a grassroots community education initiative. It does not involve any licensing, copyright, or profit-seeking attributes. This is not a contract or a legal document.

After filming and during editing, featured workers will have first and last rights of refusal to exclude footage, for example if they have a concern about how it will affect their work. We will reach out to those who are featured in the film for final approval of content.

The team creating the film are not documentarians or journalists, and will include footage that best supports a narrative that aligns with our interest area around pro-worker policy and organizing, and achieving a just and sustainable economy for all in WNC.
