AAPI Heritage Youth Ambassadors
The AAPI Youth Ambassadors Program of Howard County was created by the Howard County Chinese School in March 2021, in response to the nation-wide surge of violence and hate against Asian Americans. Its mission is to promote awareness and knowledge of AAPI histories, contributions and cultural heritage, to combat harmful stereotypes about Asian Americans, and to make Howard County a more inclusive and equitable community. Every year, the month of May is dedicated as Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders(AAPI) Heritage Month. We are recruiting middle- and high-school students (6-12th graders) with pride and passion to serve as AAPI Youth Ambassadors and promote awareness of AAPI heritage through a variety of cultural and educational events. We take concrete actions to develop our own narrative, make our voices heard, and to rise above the hate, discrimination, and xenophobia. Your time, effort, passion, ideas, and teamwork are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
