This survey explores feelings of belonging at your home institution, where you spend most of your time, and at research conferences, where you experience the larger research community. Many factors contribute to one's sense of belonging and inclusion -- we encourage you to think broadly about all of them. Social theory shows more inclusive communities improve career satisfaction and increases participation from all groups of people.
This survey has been generated by ACM SIGPLAN CARES. We are sending this survey to people attending ACM SIGPLAN Conferences and thus the focus will be on the Programming Language Community. It is intended to inform reflection and discussion within our community, by grounding that discussion in the actual experiences of its members. We will send out this survey at more than one programming languages conference. You may fill it out more than once if you'd like, tailoring your responses to the particular conference you are attending.
The survey is anonymous. But we want to share both aggregated data and verbatim examples with our community. So please *do* include concrete examples to inform our reflections, but *do not* include names of people, groups or institutions.
