About the Poetry, Spoken Word, and Storytelling Workshop:

Date and Time: Friday, May 10: 6pm – 9pm
Location: Pilipino Workers Center (Los Angeles - Historic Filipinotown)

Eddy M. Gana (they/them), Steph Sajor (she/her), & Rafaella Angelica (they/them) will guide a group through tips and best practices in writing and sharing their stories as queer and/or Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI). This workshop will include live performances, facilitated writing, and pair feedback. Participants will also be led through mindfulness and grounding exercises for self-reflection. All are welcome and no poetry, spoken word, or storytelling experience is needed.

This workshop is open to all members of the public. Members of the AANHPI LGBTQIA2-s community are especially encouraged to sign up.

Transforming Community Care: AANHPI LGBTQIA2-S Mental Health and Wellness Project

By recommendation from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit (LGBTQIA2-S) Underserved Cultural Communities (UsCC) subcommittee and with funding from the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA, Proposition 63), the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) is holding a series of leadership academy sessions, wellness workshops, and a community engagement event to explore and address mental health issues impacting the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) LGBTQIA2-S community.
