Born in Shanghai, China, Loh's family sought political asylum in Lima, Peru, and he later came to the United States to attend college and is now the President of the University of Maryland.


Nina Khrushcheva
Born in Moscow, Khrushcheva is the great-granddaughter of Nikita Khrushchev, the Premier of the Soviet Union during the Cuban Missile Crisis. She is now a professor at The New School in New York and author of a new book, In Putin's Footsteps: Searching for the Soul of An Empire across Russia?s Eleven Time Zones.

Maria Otero
Born in Bolivia, Otero's family immigrated to the United States when she was twelve. Her path took her to the University of Maryland on to a distinguished career in development and human rights, becoming the U.S. Undersecretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights.

Abderrahim Foukara
Born in Marrakesh, Foukara moved to the UK where he received his Ph.D. in Apartheid Studies. He worked for the BBC before coming to the U.S., working for AllAfrica.com before joining Al Jazeera, where he is now the Regional Director in the Americas.

Parking Information:
Metered parking is available around the Cole Student Activities Building. During the hours of 7AM through midnight, visitors must either pay a single head parking meter or a parking pay station. When parking in pay station locations visitors may start/add parking time through the Parkmobile app.

Accessibility Parking is available throughout campus. All visitors must pay to park on campus.

Hours of Operation: 7AM to midnight daily
Parking Rates: $3/hour (No Daily Rate)

Parking is also available in Regents Drive Garage.
Located near Hornbake Library, the Plant Science, Physics and Chemistry buildings. A small number of visitor parking spaces are available on the south (Fieldhouse Drive) entrance. Hours of operation are 7:00a.m. to midnight daily. Current rates at this facility are $3.00 per hour.
