Open Salon, uplifting BIPOC Veteran Voices - Monday, February 28th
In celebration of New York Theatre Workshop’s production of Alesha Harris’ On Sugarland, Poetic Theater Productions and NYTW launch our fourth year of our Open Mic Series with a special Salon Edition highlighting BIPOC Military Veterans and their work, family members of veterans, and allies.  All are welcome to sign up to participate in this evening, on February 28th at 7pm ET.

This is PTP’s second event with NYTW surrounding Alesha Harris’ sweeping new work. You can also join us on February 17th in a post-show panel with members of PTP’s Veteran Community.

Join New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) and Poetic Theater Productions for our virtual salon, at which will uplift BIPOC Military Veterans. Please feel free to share works-in-progress. This is a safe space to experiment with new materials, forms, works, etc.
We are searching for original music, songs, poetry, spoken word, story-telling, drag, and all forms of performance. All languages, backgrounds, and identities are welcome!

Community Guidelines (Must Read)
This is a space in which people use their artistry to cultivate spaces where our common humanity is affirmed. A lot of people attend and share at these events because they know that this will be a group of supportive people encouraging artistic expression across disciplines, experiences, and styles. In order to maintain this environment that supports our artists, we ask all participants and attendees agree to our community guidelines:

1. NO racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, or hateful speech, images or gestures of any kind will be tolerated.
2. We encourage attendees to react and be present with the artists that are presenting.
3. Please be polite if you plan to record or photograph another performer. We encourage you to ask for permission from that performer. If you are planning to share on social media, please be generous and tag the appropriate artist.
4. We reserve the right to remove anyone from performing who does not abide by these stated guidelines and may cause harm to other participants and attendees.
5. Please be respectful of the 3-5 min time slots.
6. Be positive and encourage others to create a community love, compassion, and acceptance.
