The Odyssey Escape Room
Welcome to Troy where an army is ready to set sail and return home after a vicious war! To take part in this escape room, all you need are your wits, a phone or something you can google things, and pen & paper.

Time yourself against your friends to see who is the true Ancient Greek boffin, or complete as a team/ individual - most importantly, have fun!

You will be playing as a vengeful God! But beware, whilst the main story is true to Homer, all your actions are secret and were never shared in the official telling. The escape room will likely last 20-30 minutes.

Do not refresh the page or you will loose your work, and please do fill in the final questionnaire so we can see where this challenge reaches! It is easier to play on a computer as you can open tabs alongside the challenge.

Thank you and have fun,

the aod team.

Actors of Dionysus are a charity with 28 years’ experience of creating ground-breaking ancient Greek theatre that excites and provokes audiences. Since 1993 we have performed to over 750,000 audiences, bringing magic to myth and exploring modern issues through the vehicle of ancient Greek theatre.

Since 2018, we have run a popular free workshop programme that has reached thousands of young people across the UK, building historical knowledge, team skills and self-confidence. aod has developed a range of important partnerships over the years, with our work commissioned by venues such as the Lowry, Rose Theatre Kingston, Square Chapel Halifax & Harlow Playhouse. Developing partnerships include the Archive of Performances of Greek & Roman Drama at the University of Oxford where archives of our work is housed.

We have collaborated with respected Classical academics such as Bettany Hughes, Katherine Harloe, Edith Hall, Natalie Haynes & Michael Scott as well as with writers and actors including Simon Russel Beale, Tyrone Huggins, Stephen Fry, Jane Asher and the late Fenella Fielding & groups such as the Classical Association who champion our work to make Classics accessible to all regardless of background and income. As well as extensive regional touring we perform in open-air spaces (Bacchae at Osterley House, 2016; Savage Beauty, 2020) & internationally in ancient theatres in Greece, Turkey, Albania & Armenia.

Our mission going forward is to link ancient Greek theatre with modern day political, environmental and cultural shifts - making theatre that sparks debate and engagement with immediate global issues.
