Naming your IDG Hub or Network?
We want to create a nomenclature that allows people to find hubs and networks with ease and clarity. Names should use the following format: ”IDG + Location + Theme + Hub”, e.g. IDG Mumbai Musicians Hub.
The basic intention with have a theme is to specify each hub’s purpose, to minimize unnecessary exclusion and unwarranted claims, and to open up for more targeted hubs that can provide specific value to those who want to join. Of course, any individual may be a member of several hubs and networks.
If you do not have any particular theme to add to your name, that is okay – the default would then be ”Community”, but then it needs to be a specific location (town/city), not a whole country or region, such as "IDG Johannesburg Community Hub”.
Examples of names that works well: IDG Rome U.Lab Hub, IDG Vienna Community Hub, IDG Global Practitioner’s’ Network
We are also becoming aware of the need to find a way to name collaboration between hubs within countries and regions. This is starting to happen both within countries and regions. In this case the name should have the following structure: ”IDG + Region/country + Hubs + Collaboration” e.g. IDG North American Hubs Collaboration or IDG Japan Hubs Collaboration.
