Interested in learning about best practices for preparing a text for research and publication in the digital age? Come to this pop up class to learn about the Textual Encoding Initiative (TEI), a text encoding standard developed by humanists for humanists. Not sure what text encoding is? Perfect, come learn about what it means to work with a text as data. Preparing a text as machine-actionable data will you allow you to display your text in a variety of forms, in print and online, and further allow you to explore and analyze your text in new ways. This pop class will include an introduction to the basics of TEI and then some hands-on work showing you how to encode your text and then display it.
