The Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) provides a free popular education curriculum to organizations and groups who want to learn about carbon pricing. We are prioritizing Indigenous and Native groups at the moment, but please feel free to add your organization and we might be able to accommodate.
The virtual workshops aim to create collaborative spaces to discuss and learn about carbon pricing mechanisms.
Some of the topics include:
- local and global processes
- the current state of affairs
- new proposed mechanisms
- ways to resist environmental and climate injustices
The trainings often explore and critique false solutions including:
- net zero-carbon
- carbon pricing
- forest, conservation and biodiversity offsets
- climate SMART agriculture
- nature-based solutions
- carbon capture
We also explore emerging proposals such as the green new deal (GND) and carbon taxes as well as other emerging debates related to addressing climate change.
The curriculum can be tailored to each groups needs or you can join in with a wider group. The training is collaborative with small break out activities, role plays and group discussion. Workshops are held on the Zoom platform and follow Carbon Pricing Volume 2 with a brief overview, links to further reading and videos, ideas for popular education training on the subject, and bullet points of key concepts.
