Homies Helping Homies would like your feedback on cleaning up and eliminating illegal dumping and consistent littering in our neighborhoods! Building on over a year of consistent neighborhood cleanups around Point Breeze and Gray's Ferry, Homies Helping Homies is launching a community-driven cleanup initiative that will shift our model to be a collective and educational action opportunity for Point Breeze and Gray’s Ferry residents. Neighbors will be invited to submit cleanup requests for their blocks and nearby green spaces, allowing us to prioritize areas based on community need!

Each week, we will organize cleanups in selected locations while working alongside neighbors, not just "for" them. We provide all supplies, including trash pickers, gloves, trash bags, and containers for sharp objects/hazardous materials. During these clean ups, we hope to mobilize the block, not just clean it up. We will share local resources, provide tools and guidance, and support residents in developing the skills and confidence to lead their own cleanups while mobilizing block-level anti-litter processes. We also hope to use this space to discuss climate concerns and how our neighborhoods can become more resilient through becoming involved in mutual aid. We want to transform our cleanup efforts into sustainable, community-led practices that will equip neighbors to take ownership of their blocks, build our own base of volunteers, strengthen local connections, and build long-term neighborhood stewardship.
