The Players]

The team may have up to 12 (female) players as it wishes, and a minimum of 8 players. Any female Shawnee student is welcome to play.
Each player must sign a permission slip. Permission Slips and fees must be turned in by Friday, April 17th by 4:00 pm. There will be a $10 fee to cover the cost of your team shirt, please turn the money into Coach Madonna by April 17th. You are a player - not a coach or decision maker; you must be a team player on and off the field or you will be dismissed from the team. You will not determine what position you will play; this will be up to your coaches.
All players must follow the Shawnee High School Codes of Conduct and be a Shawnee High School Student.
Each team shall consist of 8 players on the field with a max of 12 players per team. All players must wear flags on each side of the hip. No player shall wear dangerous equipment including casts, jewelry, etc.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, inappropriate language and/or gestures, or rough play will not be tolerated, resulting in the dismissal from the game at the discretion of the referee. There will be one warning and then there will be dismissal if the behavior continues.
To play you must have your money and forms turned into the athletic offices, or online by 4:00pm on Friday, April 17th!

[The Game]
1. Each team must arrive on time. Game clocks will start at the scheduled game time, and if a team is more than ten minutes late they will forfeit the match.
2. Initial games shall consist of 2 -10 minute halves with a 7 minute half time. The championship game will consist of 2 – 20 minute halves. There will be overtime only in the case of a tie.
3. The clock will only stop for scores, timeouts, and injuries.
4. A team scores six points for a touchdown and two points for a run or pass conversion.
5. Each team is allowed one timeout per half (two per half in the championship game).
6. To down the ball carrier, players must pull and deflag the ball carrier. The ball carrier is down if her knee touches the ground. If one of the flags comes off accidentally during play, downing must be accomplished by a two-hand touch.
7. There will be four downs to reach the first down marker. There will be no punts during the game.
[Sportsmanship]
1. Foul play will not be tolerated. An unsportsmanlike act can include any acts of intentionally tackling, elbowing, cheap shots, fighting, flagrant actions, or any act intending to cause harm.
2. Ten yard penalties will be given to a team engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct and the offending players will be warned once and then removed.
3. If trash talking occurs, the referee will give one warning. If it continues, the player or players will be removed from the game.
4. Fighting will not be tolerated. All offending players will be removed from the game.
5. The ball carrier cannot place their hands in front of the flags or slap an opponent’s hand to prevent deflagging. If this occurs the play will be blown dead at the point of infraction.
PARTICIPANT RELEASE AND WAIVER FORM
Risk of Injury. We, the participating student and a parent or guardian of the participating student, acknowledge a risk of injury may be involved with participation in the powder puff football game. Even with proper supervision, the use of appropriate equipment and adherence to the rules for powder puff football, injuries are still a possibility and on rare occasions these injuries can be so severe as to result in total disability, paralysis, or even death. It is impossible to eliminate this risk.
Voluntary Participation. I, the student, am requesting permission to participate in the Shawnee High School Powder Puff Football Game. I, as parent or guardian of the student, am providing permission for the student to participate in the Powder Puff Football Game. Participation in the Powder Puff Football Game is completely voluntary, and the student is not participating as the result of coercion, duress, or undue influence from any party.
Participation Rules. We understand, when the student agrees to participate in the Powder Puff Football Game, the student agrees to follow the rules for that sport as explained by the coach and/or other adult instructors. These rules are designed to improve the student’s skills in Powder Puff Football and for the safety of the student and others. Failure to follow the rules may result in injury to the student or others. However, following the rules is not a guarantee the student will not suffer an injury while participating in the Powder Puff Football Game.
Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability. By signing this release, we assume the risk of injury associated with participating in the Powder Puff Football game. We agree to release, hold harmless and indemnify the Shawnee Public Schools, and its agents and employees, and the Shwanee Public Schools Board of Education from and against any and all claims, suits or causes of action we may have arising from or out of an injury the student may suffer while participating in the Powder Puff Football game, other than an injury caused by willful or gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing by the WS/FCS, its agents or employees.
Pictures. By signing this release, we hereby consent to the use of photographs/videotape taken during the course of the event for publicity, promotional and/or educational purposes (including publications, presentation or broadcast via school newspaper, internet or other media sources). We do this with full knowledge and consent and waive all claims for compensation for use, or for damages.
