Understanding what recent graduate paramedics know about Fatigue Risk Management Strategies
This research aim is to find information on fatigue risk management strategies and to establish the strategies that may be in use or taught during undergraduate education or workplace induction.

The chief investigator for this project is Rhianna Scott, a Bachelor of Paramedicine (Honours) student from the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare sciences at Charles Sturt University. The student is being supervised by Dr Judith Anderson (Primary Supervisor), of the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare sciences at Charles Sturt University and Clare Sutton (Co-supervisor), of the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare sciences at Charles Sturt University.

Why does this study Matter?

This research will add to the existing body of knowledge on fatigue risk management strategies by providing information on the understanding among recent graduate paramedics. This research may also assist in identifying perceived barriers to implementation of recommended interventions. The data produced may also inform curriculum development for universities and identify important gaps in university knowledge that should be recognised in order to reduce the incidence and impact of fatigue among paramedics.
How can I get involved?
In order to address the research question we need participants to engage in semi structured interviews to share their experiences of fatigue risk management strategies.

The inclusion criteria for this study will involve participants who are graduate paramedics currently completing their internship with a state-based ambulance service whom have studied within NSW. Exclusion criteria involves individuals who have completed their internship, those who are not employed by a state-based ambulance service, those who did not study within NSW and those whose duration of employment does not match the parameters stated in the inclusion criteria.

Please see below a participant information sheet which provides all relevant information (this will also be emailed to you when the research team receives contact information):
