Kansas Social Studies Conference Session Proposal 2018
The goal of effective social studies instruction is to prepare students to be informed, thoughtful engaged citizens. So we're looking for proposals that focus on important concepts, strategies, and resources that support social studies instruction and help prepare Kansas students for enlightened and engaged citizenship.

We also welcome proposals that promote inquiry and encourage the application of information in authentic and realistic situations, discipline specific thinking skills, strategies that work with elementary kids, utilizing primary source materials, effective reading and writing activities - just about anything that supports high levels of social studies teaching and learning. All presentation rooms will include projector, screen, and wireless internet access.

Fifty minute sessions will be presented on Monday, October 29 with longer workshops happening on Sunday afternoon, October 28. While both session types should be interactive, the longer Sunday workshop sessions should very intentionally include hands-on learning activities. Please indicate in your application whether you would be interested in presenting on Sunday or Monday.

Proposal deadline is July 15. Questions? Contact Darla Mallein at dmallein@emporia.edu.
