Welcome to the DIY Bike Hub, a place where we teach
newcomer youth ages 14-30Â bike repair basics through hands-on demonstrations and practicing bike repair on donated/rescued bikes, more advanced repair skills with workshops and networking and socializing with other newcomer youth. The DIY Bike Hub is part of the Mississauga Cycles project, based at Peel Multicultural Council and funded by the Region of Peel.Â
We are also looking for adult mentors ages 18+ (newcomer or non-newcomer) with experience in bike repair to help us at our sessions.
Registration: This form will add your name to a waitlist to participate in our indoor and outdoor bike repair sessions, meet new friends, as well as learn and practice new cycling skills while following best practices for health and safety during COVID-19. The DIY Bike Hub will take place at Peel Multicultural Council, the back entrance, at 6630 Turner Valley Road, Mississauga, Ontario.Â
What we provide: All materials for bike repair are provided on-site, including tarps, bike stands, repair tools and basic parts for replacement such as chains, cables, housing, pedals etc. Cleaning supplies are also available on-site, including rags, lubricant, degreaser and grease, in addition to gloves, masks and hand sanitizer. Snacks will be available as well as access to the water fountain and washrooms.Â
