Collaborative Project: Diatoms of Iberoamerica
DiatomS mEEDatabases: resources and practices to enable large-scale ecological research (SEED)
Link to the full project text

SEED means collaboration and networking, a first “seed” to generate a community-curated database of Iberoamerican diatoms to establish the foundation of ecological and paleolimnological research using open, fair, and equitable data practices of species distribution.  SEED receives funding from the International Society for Diatom Research (ISDR) under the networking type grants https://isdr.org/about-isdr-grants/

What do we expect from project participants?

In this initial phase of networking we are interested in knowing what type of data you would be willing to share following some minimum eligibility criteria, as well as the time commitment and tasks you can provide during the course of the project (2 years).

Data Sharing Policy

The central objective of SEED is to improve access to information about diatom species through a database that will be published in article format. All data are owned by their contributors and will be shared among those who agree to be part of the project. This policy can be adapted according to the needs and interests of the participants, and we would love to hear your opinion. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Database

Would you be willing to share published and/or unpublished datasets related to the SEED objective?

*
What kind of ecological questions would you be interested in exploring using the SEED database?
Do you know any database/repository/website/publication from which we can gather ecological information on diatom taxa? If yes, could you mention any with useful information? (e.g., link, DOI)
