Supporting those things that connect us...

Hosting Coffee Hour: Providing refreshments for the congregation following the 11 AM service on Sunday mornings. The parish can provide reimbursement.

Pastoral Care: We believe in a God who cares for each of us and calls us to care for each other. Some of the ways we express our pastoral care are in the following forms:

  • Eucharistic Visitors: Eucharistic visitors are lay persons trained at SLATE to take Holy Communion to parishioners who cannot attend church. Eucharistic visitors take kits packed with consecrated bread and wine to an assigned parishioner once per month, developing a relationship with that person facilitating a continuing bond between the parishioner and our community.
  • Intercessors: The Fellowship of Intercessors pray daily for others, including friends, relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances. Each intercessor prays daily for individuals by name on the prayer list. Intercessors are encouraged to attend the monthly healing service to pray for every person on the prayer list.
  • SLATE Friends: This ministry is a team that provides various services to fellow parishioners who need short-term support. Services include Christmas and Easter flower delivery, home visitation, transportation to the doctor’s office or grocery store, meal delivery during an illness or other difficult time, among other tasks. Volunteers respond to parishioners’ needs, making a significant difference at a challenging time. This group also engages in writing cards and notes to members of the parish for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions, as well as regular notes to those who are homebound.

St. Gabe’s Lunch Ministry: Cook with a group in the church kitchen and deliver lunch monthly to a parish in Olney.

Siloam Wellness Center: This is an organization that works with folks who are living with HIV and AIDS as well as youth for HIV AIDS prevention. We are creating a partnership with this organization and there will be opportunities to interact with them and the folks they serve.
