Camp Free2Be is a summer day camp designed for trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse youth ages 6-14 in the DMV area. Camp Free2Be is designed to serve as a safe and affirming space for trans and nonbinary youth.Throughout the week, campers build lasting friendships, celebrate being their authentic selves, and most importantly—have fun! Through Camp Free2Be's Volunteer Junior Counselor Program, trans and nonbinary teens ages 14-18 can serve as role models, support camp activities, and learn leadership skills.
This year we have two Junior Counselor roles:
Cabin Counselors work directly with the youth. They provide guidance and support to campers, and encourage participation in camp activities. If you enjoy working with kids, speaking, or activities then this might be a good fit for you!
Admin Support Counselors assist the leadership team with day to day tasks such as pick-up and drop-off, technology, activity set-up, and more! If you enjoy behind the scenes work, organizing, or planning then this might be a good fit for you!
Camp this summer will be held in Northern DC, July 28-August 1st, and August 4-8. Learn more at smyal.org/camp.
